Princeton Reverb is one of the most useful Fender amplifiers featuring reverb. It has just the right amount of power for many uses, and the tone is excellent. Like many other models, the Fender Princeton Reverb set the bar so high already in ’64 that many other manufacturers still haven’t reached the same level.

The Princeton Reverb is the smallest amplifier in Fender’s blackface series that includes both reverb and tremolo. Two 6V6 tubes produce approximately 14W of traditional sparkling and harmonically rich guitar tone. Easy to assemble, with an unbeatable balance of sound, price, simplicity, and versatility.

For anyone interested in tube amplifier building and classic vintage guitar tones. It’s important to reserve enough focused time and relax into the process. A cup of coffee or tea helps. The Princeton is rewarding to build because there is plenty of working space inside the chassis. This makes it especially suitable for first-time amplifier builders as well.

How quickly can the Princeton Reverb be built?

An experienced builder can assemble the amplifier in a day. Hobbyists typically complete it in 1–3 days.

What kind of tools do you need to build this kit?

Basic tools are enough, but especially beginners should invest in reasonable quality.

Especially the soldering station and solder need to be good enough to ensure proper solder joints. Always buy your soldering station from a proper electronics store that can recommend the right equipment specifically for this kind of work.

You will get a beautifully sounding boutique amplifier that will last at least the next 100 years at a very affordable price. For only a fraction of the cost of the cheapest proper tube amplifiers, less than half the price of failure-prone robot-assembled Chinese amplifiers, and even less than the combined retail value of the kit’s components.

An amplifier assembled from the kit according to the instructions represents the finest boutique clones and cannot be compared to mass-produced reissue versions, which neither sonically nor structurally represent the masterpieces of original tube amplifier craftsmanship.
