UralTone Robotti (robot) - effect pedal DIY kit
The UralTone Robotti (Finnish, translated to Robot) is effect pedal implemented with the HT8950 chip which designed for toys or modifying speech. The effects in the Robotti include frequency shifting up or down and "Robot," which transforms the input signal into a robot voice. The vibrato function of the effect circuit can be separately engaged with a switch. The effect's clock frequency is adjustable, and by reducing the speed, the outcome slumps towards a chip-tune style buzz.
The signal path is implemented in parallel, allowing the mix of the effect and the clean signal to be adjusted with a blend potentiometer.
The Robotti is definitely something different, and its style differs from traditional effects. The device is suitable for a tinkerer who is willing to seek the right or completely unexpected results. At its best, the Robot offers great droning and atmospheres, but sometimes not.
Robotti can also be used to give some extra spice to distorted guitar sounds, as you can hear in demo video.
Works best with an open-minded player. The device isn't very selective about the used instrument.

What does the package include?
The package includes all necessary parts to assemble a functioning pedal. The case is optional (you can also build in a self-drilled case, but note that the power connector requires a square hole and the footswitch a 12mm one. Potentiometer knobs are sold separately, as tastes vary. The knobs fit knobs for 1/4" / 6.3mm shafts with screw attachment. The selection can be found here:
How long does it take to assemble the kit?
An experienced builder can assemble the kit in 1-2 hours, while it may take a bit longer for a beginner.
Who is this kit suitable for?
For everyone who appreciates unique sounds and enjoys hands-on activities. Also, for those who want the quality of boutique pedals but whose budget does not stretch to a high-quality boutique class. In boutique pedals, costs include design, marketing (brand), and assembly (if made in Western countries). With DIY kits, many of these costs are eliminated.
The pedal building kits are also suitable for complete beginners. They do not involve high voltages and assembling is easy and fun. A cup of coffee or tea and a bit of concentration is enough (and, of course, a few tools are necessary).
What kind of tools do I need to assemble this kit?
Basic tools are sufficient, but especially for a beginner, it is worth investing in reasonable quality. Especially the soldering iron and solder must be good enough to ensure good solder joints. We have assembled a tool set for beginners that makes assembling easy and is a good start for the hobby. You can choose the tools you want from the package:
Besides that, you basically just need screwdrivers.
If you hesitate whether your current (perhaps inherited from your grandfather) soldering station is adequate, you can send us a message and we will see if it is sufficient to get started!
What do you get for your money?
A carefully assembled pedal from our kits matches the quality of the most expensive boutique pedals. The parts are top class and the devices are carefully designed. The price also includes unlimited technical support by email (we cannot give kit support at our store or over the phone). With us, the customer is never left alone!
